About Us Wine and Design Triad/Jamestown
Laurie Mendenhall Tester
Studio Artist of Wine and Design Triad/Jamestown
Born and raised in the triad, Laurie Mendenhall Tester is a self-taught artist. Studying Interior Design at East Carolina University and Art History at UNCG, she has always had a passion for beautiful things. She comes from a family full of natural artistic talent. Her mother is a pastel portrait artist and her sister studied fine art in college.
Her career began in furniture and soon blossomed into a business of her own. In 2004, Laurie founded Lulu and Daisy. Offering special hand-painted gifts and accessories, Laurie felt her work brought art into everyday life. Showing her wares at the Atlanta Gift Market and selling in high-end gift shops throughout the country, Laurie’s business continued to flourish and grow.
In 2009, after much debate, Laurie closed her business and made the transition back into corporate life with Polo Ralph Lauren, where her love of home fashion thrives today. She currently lives in High Point with her husband and two dogs. Her love for the arts continues here at Wine and Design.

Mary Powell Y. DeLille
Studio Artist of Wine and Design Triad/Jamestown
Mary Powell Y. DeLille was born and raised in High Point but broke away to the College of Charleston to earn a BA in Studio Art. After graduation she stayed in Charleston, formed her own company painting pretty much anything that didn’t move, and soaked in the culture of the Lowcountry.
On returning to High Point her love of the arts, architecture and history followed her into endeavors of historic preservation and renovation. Marriage and two wonderful boys followed. After this her artistic talents were focused more on children’s artwork, furniture and murals. Now that the kids are older she started her most recent company, Lilly-DeLilly Studio, which focuses on whimsical pet portraits.
She is very active in the High Point community and is involved with the High Point Historical Society, the Junior League of High Point and the school PTA. This new beginning with Wine and Design is an exciting new chapter which encompasses her love of art as well as teaching.

Josh Hendrey
Studio Artist of Wine and Design Triad/Jamestown
Josh was born September 14, 1976 in Vero Beach Florida. Four years later, in a quiet corner of Jordan Hendry Awning Company, a legal pad and a ballpoint pen babysat me for the first time. A delightful confidence came out as he began to create.
Two and a half years later, he move to Montreat NC sparked an awakening inside him. His grandmother Nellie’s house was a treasure trove of imagination and wonder. At night, in the upstairs bedroom he perused old Richie Rich comics by lamplight. The breeze whispered through the old screen windows and he stayed warm under the weight of Nellie’s ancient blankets. Outside, the rush of Flat Creek amplified the warm and safe feelings he had inside. He was lulled to sleep time and again only to be woken by the aroma of fresh coffee, eggs, bacon and buttered toast. Days in Montreat were filled with excitement. He had at my fingertips the very essence of creativity and adventure.
After graduating from high school in 1994, Josh was accepted into the College of Design at North Carolina State University.
Josh is the Art Teacher for High Point Friends School in High Point North Carolina. He teach lessons and accept commissions on a regular basis.
